A terrifying spirit created by uniting a thousand of souls of the warriors fell in the War of the Magi; Visage roams this world with never-ending thirst for souls. This restless ghost consumes the essence of the enemies he slays, and the death moan of his victims is what he enjoys the most. The weakening power of his wrath puts even the greatest warriors in misery, and the sight of sky filled with Visage and his undead minions is unimaginable. He is a nightmare in its worst, most sickening form, a true living horror, the Necro'lic.

Sometime just before the 6.5 series Visage's two skills were remade and it was given a new hero story. When the changes first appeared the ground reaction was that many felt the changes were uncalled for. Some still feel the old skills were really good. However after some time of getting used to it, it is evident that this remaking is really good and even Asian league players have given it a few opportunities.

I find it interesting that after a very long absence Visage is finally making a comeback. A hero long ridiculed as weak has now the potential to become strong. The Frog's reform has succeeded and it is not hard to see why.

The new Soul Assumption is a passive skill, unlike the old autocast one. It does not depend on mana to use, hence making it a much easier skill to manage than the old. It gives a maximum of +96 damage, averaging +48 damage at any time, beating the maximum +40 damage of the old one. It even works on ally denies and it also heals Visage everytime a unit dies, thus relaxing the need to score last hits to gain healing, unlike the old skill. Because it is not an orb effect many items are now open options on Visage, chief among them Stygian Desolator which provides a useful minus-armor effect to amplify damage by Visage and his revenants.

The new Gravekeeper's Cloak, while not reflecting damage anymore, disperses any damage to Visage by a total of 25%, beating the old 20%. This effectively increases Visage's HP by 25%. The healing aura of the skill is secondary because it depends on how much bulk HP Visage has. The old skill (now Spectre's new one) led too many players to amass HP on Visage without giving him enough damage. This, coupled with the poor damage output of the orb spell, made Visage a necessary user of tier 4 items but without the farming power to get them. The new spell eliminates excessive dependence on those items, while at the same time synergize with some other items like Mekansm which are cheaper and benefits the revenants at the same time.

While Raise Revenants is untouched, recent Frog reforms have made it a more valuable skill than before. By severely limiting the amount of observer wards that can be bought by either side, revenants have been deployed more often as observers. As I have noted before, revenants are one of strongest observers available to players.
Revenants are virtually uncounterable since Visage can raise as many bats as he has mana, and they can only be destroyed by brute force. Truly one of the most powerful warding abilities available.
Another strange aspect of this hero is that it is an intelligence hero yet does not depend on mana or any "intelligence" item. It is more like a strength hero for its tanking aspect yet has enough bulk damage to resemble many agility heroes. Even though balance is at the foremost of the Frog's mind - that's probably why it's an intelligence hero with a low +2.45 int gain - it is obvious that the remake was, once again, to inject more entertainment value into a previously dull hero, without losing any of its devastating potential.
